Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice has been serving Thai-style Hainanese chicken rice since 1960, starting as a stall in Bangkok's Pratunam district before earning the Michelin Bib Gourmand. Its Singapore outpost at Anchorpoint brings that same Bangkok heritage to Alexandra Road, housed in a bright, spacious restaurant with high ceilings and a welcoming display of roasted poultry. It is arguably the nicest outlet in the local chain.

The roast chicken thigh rice ($6.50) is the pick — juicy, well-seasoned, and paired with flavourful rice. But regulars know the tze char dishes are equally compelling: basil chicken with kai lan, chai poh omelette, and tofu in dark soya sauce all hit the spot and pair beautifully with plain rice. The restaurant is open daily from 11am to 10pm, and its ground-floor location opposite IKEA makes it a convenient lunch stop.
